On August 20th, 2018 the new school year at Caledonia Christian School (Grades 1-8) will begin with a new teacher - Ms. Heidi Kneller. Ms. Kneller is replacing Mr. David Knott who is retiring after fourteen years of teaching at Caledonia Christian School (54 Southard Street, St. Johnsbury), and after forty years of teaching in total. Even though Ms. Kneller comes to us from North Carolina, she grew up in northern New England, and considers herself to be coming home.
Ms. Kneller is a certified elementary teacher holding a Bachelor’s degree in Language Arts and Social Science. She has 17 years of teaching experience in multi-grade classrooms, having taught grades 3-6, grades 5-8, and grades 1-8, and has excellent classroom management skills. Ms. Kneller teaches using integrated literature-based instruction with classical education methods. She says, “Making personal connections with my students and their families is the most rewarding part of my work.” Outside of school, Heidi enjoys spending time outdoors with her children and volunteering in her faith community.
Caledonia Christian School has been running 67 consecutive years, since 1951. It has consistently provided strong academics in a Christ-centered environment, and that’s not going to change. Students will still ski at Mt. Burke, hike in the White Mountains, and participate in other outdoor activities. They will still take interesting and educational field trips to various places as well, but Ms. Kneller brings a fresh approach and new ideas.
This year Caledonia Christian School will expand its program to include a homeschool support day. Friday's program will offer a music class with opportunity to play in a chimes choir. The students will also work on Bible-based nature, civic, and social skills. Each Friday, homeschooling students are invited to participate from 10AM – 1PM.
